United with the presence of Jesus, St. Hugh's parishioners bring a new way of living human life to the local community. As witnesses to this life, we can show what is possible through our shared companionship.
“It is our duty to live in history, side by side with our peers, sharing their worries and hopes, because the Christian is and must be fully a man of his time. He cannot escape into another dimension, ignoring the tragedies of his era, closing his eyes and heart to the anguish that pervades life. On the contrary, it is he who, although not 'of' this world, is immersed 'in' this world every day, ready to hasten to wherever there is a brother in need of help, a tear to be dried, a request for help to be answered. On this will we be judged!"
- Saint John Paul II, World Youth Day 1996
Lord Jesus, you want us to become a living force for all mankind, lights shining in the world. You want us to become radiant lights as we stand beside You, the great light, bathed in your glory, O Light of Heaven. Let us enjoy more and more the pure and dazzling light of the Holy Trinity, as now we have received, though not in its fullness, a ray of its splendor, proceeding from the one true God, in Christ Jesus our Lord, to whom be glory and power for ever and ever. Amen.
- St. Gregory Nazianzen (330-390)
