“Sing to the Lord a new song for he has done marvelous things. Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises.” ~ Psalm 98
The St. Hugh Music Ministry offers a variety of ways for parishioners to fully respond to the Lord’s sacrificial Love poured out for us during the Mass - singing in one of our three choirs, serving in the Cantor ministry, or playing an instrument.
If you play a musical instrument or like to sing or have any questions about our Choirs, please contact Director of Music Jennifer Goltz to discuss where you might be able to offer your gifts in our parish music ministry!
The Choirs of St. Hugh of Grenoble
Parish Choir
The Parish Choir serves the 11:00 AM Mass on Sundays from mid-September through the Feast of Corpus Christi (which is usually in June) and for other special parish celebrations and important Feast Days. The Parish Choir rehearsals are on Thursdays at 7:00 PM in the church. A pleasant singing voice and willingness to serve are required!
Funeral Choir
The Funeral Choir serves our community at Funeral Masses. Because most funerals occur during the work week, this choir is comprised mostly of parishioners who are free at that time. Singing in this choir is truly a labor of love, providing comfort to grieving families while supporting the prayer of the community at Mass. Availability for every funeral is NOT necessary, members serve when they can.
Youth Group Music Ministry
Our Youth Group Music Ministry serves once a month from September through May at the 9:30 AM Mass. Practice is right at the beginning of Youth Group (or right after the 11am Mass.) All members of the Youth Group are invited to participate.
The Organ
In the spring of 2014 our parish was blessed with the installation of a beautiful three manual Rogers Organ. Designed in 2009 by acclaimed organist Felix Hell as his touring organ, St. Hugh was fortunate to be able to acquire this instrument. The Blessing and Inaugural Recital occurred on October 25, 2014.
…what happens when a person is touched by the light of the resurrection, and thus comes into contact with Life itself, with Truth and Love? …Speech is no longer adequate. He has to sing.”
Sing, my tongue, the Savior's glory, Of His Flesh the mystery sing; Of the Blood, all price exceeding, Shed by our immortal King, Destined for the world's redemption, From a noble womb to spring.
